This sustainable microgrid power generation project will generate electricity of more than 3 MW from solar energy and will be having battery storage of 6MWH along with microgrid controls.

The project is expected to increase the operational capabilities of the entire 64 acre retail location.

The company said in a statement that it is integrating a hybrid district energy approach and structured financing into the redevelopment of District 40 that requires zero capital from the mall.

Through April 2020, the project will remain in its engineering phase. Also, the company is expected to develop a project that not only significantly reduces carbon footprint, but also increases the use of renewable energy. It will also store renewable energy in eco-friendly battery systems.

Further after completion of the short due diligence phase, the company’s investment in the project is expected to be USD 20 million and in approximately fourteen months it will reach commercial operation.

Commenting on the development, John Dukes, President and Founder of FESCO Energy, said that, the property and its tenants will have access to carbon free solar power and the ability to operate independent of the power grid should the conditions require it; without any expense or risk of operation. I am excited about what this means for District 40 and for the County of Frederick Maryland. I am personally committed to expanding clean, sustainable and resilient power for businesses in Frederick to enhance the competitiveness of businesses and reduce their carbon contribution.
