Equinor Doubles Polish Solar Capacity

  • Equinor has commissioned its second Polish solar plant, Zagórzyca. Developed and operated by the Polish renewable power producer Wento, the 60MW facility is part of Equinor's 1.6GW solar pipeline and is supported by Danske Commodities' electricity sales. 500 people were involved in the construction of the 55 hectare plant. Equinor Doubles Polish Solar Capacity

Equinor has commissioned its second Polish solar plant, the 60MW Zagórzyca facility in the Damnica municipality. The plant is developed and operated by the Polish renewable power producer Wento, a 100% subsidiary of Equinor. Wento’s 1.6GW pipeline of solar projects was acquired by Equinor in 2021. Stępień, the first Equinor solar plant in Poland, is already in commercial production, with Lipno set to be commissioned in 2024. Danske Commodities, Equinor’s energy trading house, will be responsible for marketing and selling the electricity from Zagórzyca to the Polish power market. Around 500 people were involved in the construction of the plant, which is made up of 111,000 solar panels over an area of 55 hectares. Equinor’s plans in Poland demonstrate its commitment to support the country’s energy transition, as well as developing a broad energy offering, including onshore and offshore renewables, and gas supplies through the Baltic Pipe.

What Are Equinor's Plans in Poland?
