Asset manager EOS Investment Management Group (EOS IM) has acquired six solar greenfield projects in Italy from Lightsource BP. The projects have a combined capacity of 294MW and are either permitted or in the late stages of development. Construction is expected to begin within the next year. The acquisition allows EOS IM to strengthen its position as an active investor in the Italian clean energy sector. The portfolio includes agri-photovoltaic initiatives that will support eco-friendly power generation and biodiversity protection. Lightsource BP plans to reinvest the proceeds from the sale to expand its presence in the Italian market.

EOS IM's managing partner, Natalino Mongillo, stated that the acquisition brings the company's clean energy infrastructure fund to over 370MW of operational or under-construction assets, as well as a portfolio of projects close to being permitted totaling 600MW of capacity. Giovanni Mascari, country head for Italy at Lightsource BP, highlighted the growing demand for secure and renewable electricity and expressed excitement about the opportunities the projects will unlock for the energy transition and local economy in Italy.
